In late spring of 2024, August Creative partnered with the Communications team at the Washington State's Office of Financial Management on the concept and design of a new agency-wide logo and brand suite. OFM wanted to tell the story of our state and their work for all Washingtonians in an image that was friendly and distinct.

The Office of Financial Management provides vital information, fiscal services and policy support that the governor, Legislature and state agencies need to serve the people of Washington. They empower Washingtonians by helping state agencies and the Legislature connect people, budgets, policies, data and systems.

In late spring of 2024, August Creative partnered with the Communications team at the Washington State's Office of Financial Management on the concept and design of a new agency-wide logo and brand suite. OFM wanted to tell the story of our state and their work for all Washingtonians in an image that was friendly and distinct.

After months of weekly meetings, concepts, and revisions, we landed on a strong, simple data-inspired design. Our team put together a robust style guide, UX mockups for the website, and a full brand story for the agency to build on in the years to come. Thank you for your trust OFM team! "With our updated mission to empower Washingtonians by helping state agencies and the Legislature connect people, budgets, policies, data, and systems, and our vision to create an equitable future for every Washingtonian, we wanted our logo and brand to reflect these ideals. We aimed to create a symbol that embodies inclusivity, equity, and innovation. After a thorough process exploring different concepts that resonated with our diverse communities and reflected our statewide impact, we landed on our new design.

Each design element, from color choice to graphics, was meticulously crafted to convey our commitment to accessibility and clarity, ensuring our brand remains inviting and professional. This logo aims to convey inclusivity and diversity through its bright colors, each representing different regions of our state.

  • Blue symbolizes Washington's rivers, shorelines, and tributaries.
  • Green represents our agricultural fields, forests, and prairies.
  • Orange signifies our natural desert landscapes and wheat fields.
  • The trend line and bar chart illustrate upward progress and dynamic movement, reflecting our data-informed decision-making process and commitment to statewide goals.
  • The bars, divided by a trend line, symbolize OFM as the foundation for growth across agencies and organizations statewide.

The final logo embodies progress and unity, symbolizing our role in fostering growth and collaboration across Washington. It not only serves as a visual identity but as a testament to our dedication to serving all Washingtonians."
